Meet Jennifer Overhulse

Storyteller. Communicator. Northern Kentucky local. And the person who will absolutely convince you that yes, you can paint.

She's been telling stories her whole career.
Now she tells them in paint.

Jennifer has spent more than 30 years helping people communicate clearly, creatively, and with purpose. She's been an editor-in-chief, a photojournalist, a marketing director, a speaker coach, and a public relations strategist — with bylines in more than 50 publications and a career that's taken her from breaking news to boardrooms to innovation conferences.

These days, she channels all of that energy into two things: her content and PR firm, St. Nick Media Services, and her paint-and-pour classes right here in Northern Kentucky. She believes the same thing about painting that she's always believed about writing: you don't need to be "talented" — you need a good guide, a relaxed environment, and maybe a glass of something nice.

A journalist learns to find the angle in everything. Jennifer brings that same eye to the canvas — she'll notice exactly where your painting is coming alive and help you lean into it. Thirty-plus years of meeting people where they are, listening carefully, and making complex things feel approachable? Turns out, that's a pretty solid foundation for a painting instructor.

"I teach the technique. You bring the personality. The wine handles the rest."

— Jennifer Overhulse

She holds classes at some of Northern Kentucky's best venues — the kind of places where the vibe is already halfway there before you even pick up a brush. All skill levels are not just welcome; they're the whole point. Jennifer has watched complete beginners walk out with canvases they couldn't believe they made themselves. That's her favorite part of the job.

Whether you're coming solo, with your crew, or organizing a private event for a team, a birthday, or a bachelorette, you're in good hands. The woman has literally run roundtables for insurance innovation conferences. She can handle a table full of first-time painters.

30+ years of storytelling

Five things you should probably know.

She's more interesting than her resume makes her sound. (And her resume is already pretty interesting.)

✍️
30+ years telling stories

Bylines in 50+ publications. Editor-in-chief. Photojournalist. Beat reporter. Marketing director. She has been putting words (and now paint) in the right places for a very long time.

🎨
Believes anyone can paint — yes, even you

She's heard "I have zero artistic ability" more times than she can count. And she's watched every single one of those people walk out with a canvas they loved. Don't test her on this.

🔍
Journalism background = she'll find your best angle

Decades of interviewing people, reading rooms, and spotting what makes something compelling — turns out that translates beautifully to spotting where your painting is starting to shine.

🏡
Northern Kentucky local and proud of it

Born, raised, and firmly planted in NKY. She knows the best spots, the best people, and the best places to hold a paint class (hint: anywhere with good wine and good company).

🍷
Confirmed: wine makes you better at painting

Scientifically unverified, but anecdotally overwhelming. Jennifer has watched enough classes to know that the first glass loosens the grip on the brush, and the second one loosens expectations. Both are a win.

Here's exactly what you're walking into.

No surprises. No pressure. Just a really good time and a canvas you'll want to hang on your wall.

01

A zero-judgment zone

This isn't art school. There's no grading, no critiquing, no one looking over your shoulder with a disappointed sigh. Jennifer's classroom runs on encouragement and laughter.

Leave your inner critic at the door.
02

Step-by-step instruction

Jennifer walks you through every brushstroke from start to finish — technique, color mixing, layering, the works. Whether it's your first canvas or your fiftieth, you'll learn something new.

Designed for all skill levels.
03

A canvas you'll actually love

The whole point is for you to leave with something you're genuinely proud of. Jennifer has a gift for helping people find what's working in their painting and run with it.

It will surprise you. That's a promise.

Come make something beautiful with us.
